I am really pleased to introduce our school “HAPA COLLEGE” to you and explain the vision for the education of our students. It should start a conversation and process which will see your child well supported in coming to HAPA. After more than twenty years of teaching experience and now as a father myself, I know and understand how important a school is that offers quality learning with high expectation. I am passionate and committed to maintaining the philosophy and standard of HAPA COLLEGE, whilst ensuring the school continues to provide quality education. One of our aims is that all students are part of ‘a culture of continuous improvement’. This underpins our work and values for those in our care. I want all our students to fulfill their potential; the qualification they need for further and higher education and for adult working life. I believe education is a partnership between the school, parents and the child. Their success needs your support and we are committed to working with you. We will listen to you and support your family throughout your child’s learning and personal development at HAPA COLLEGE. I encourage you parents or guardians to review this prospectus to be sure that you are familiar with the policies and procedures of HAPA COLLEGE. These policies and procedures are in place to help you and your fellow students have a productive and successful school year. I hope that you have an outstanding school year and that your educational experiences help you achieve your goals. I look forward to meeting with you soon.

Our mission is to promote quality education with morality and Godliness; we are committed to the promotion of sound, spiritual, moral and academic excellence. We encourage our students to strive for personal levels of excellence and to develop fully across a broad range of academic, physical, creative, and social endeavors. HAPA College seeks to nourish a spirit of inquiry, to impart an appropriate body of knowledge, to set high standards, to instill strong learning habits, and to help students become secure in themselves while respecting the dignity of others. We are committed to producing new patriots for Nigeria and sons and daughters that make their parents proud and happy.
Our vision is to lay a foundation of a lifelong educational experience, which will give the individual student confidence and to develop in our students a consciousness of the needs of society and the desire to contribute positively through selfless service, putting the totality of the God–given talents and acquired knowledge to the service of humanity.
HAPA College students are not only expected to build a foundation of academic achievement, they are also expected to demonstrate the strong character necessary to excel in the modern secondary school and life beyond. Because character education is a key part of our mission, we devote significant time to its instruction and we think critically about how best to align the school culture with our core values of “GOD FIRST”
Godliness: This refers to the act of being pious and living a good, reverent life toward God and others because of what Christ has done in us. Every member of HAPA College is expected to live out our disposition, respect, and reverence to Christ in all aspects of our life.
Obedience: Obedience means to comply with or abide by rules, regulations and laws of the college without being reminded or forced to do so “Every great person has first learned how to obey, whom to obey and when to obey “We can’t make the most of our lives without learning how to obey, whom to obey and when obey. We value our call to live in obedience to constituted authority at HAPA.
Diligence: We hold ourselves and members of our school to high expectations in all aspects of our work. We encourage all our staff and students to apply their best effort in all that they do. We exude self-discipline and push ourselves and those around us to relentlessly achieve.
Focus: Learning how to focus and get something done is about more than just good grades- it’s the foundation for success in life. Mastering the skills of getting organized, staying focused, and seeing work through to the end will help our students throughout their life time.
Integrity: We constantly encourage our students to uphold principles of good conduct and have the moral courage to stand up for what is right HAPA college staff members are, themselves, expected to be exemplary citizens who teach, model, and hold all scholars to high behavioral expectations 10% at all times
Responsibility: HAPA College students’ responsibility begins with each student taking an active role in their learning by recognizing the fact that they are accountable for their academic success. Responsible students take ownership of their actions, attend and participate in classes, labs, and seminars, complete the assigned work in a timely manner with attention to quality of work, avoid making excuses for their behavior, demonstrate a high level of academic integrity and honesty and communicate in a careful and respectful manner with teachers, peers, and other member of the college
Success: Through Hard Word: We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams into reality, it takes as awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort. At HAPA College, success is achieved only by being diligent and concentrating on the duty at hand. Our “NO” to examination malpractices is total, 10%
Teamwork: “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” –Henry ford. We consciously work as a team to our utmost BEST, Utilizing all our energies and abilities towards academic success. At HAPA College, we strongly believe that the education of each child is a partnership between the school, parents and the child. Therefore, their success needs our support.
Assessment is an integral part of the teaching process at HAPA COLLEGE. We ensure students are continuously assessed, to give both ongoing feedback and to provide a score/grade at the end of term of a session.
At the end of each week students have a mini assessment on the subject matter covered during the week. Students are then given feedback and teachers re-teach concepts, as required. Students also haves assignment to complete.
There are two major assessments each term; tests and end-of-term examination. All assessments are recorded and provide a framework for continuous assessment. This allows the school to provide parents with balanced evidence of each child’s progress. Parents should note that at HAPA College, students records/results cannot be falsified (fabricated) to have a presentation that will be appealing to you, it is the real competence of your child that will reflect in his/her results. So, parents are encouraged to monitor their child/children trend of performance as the session states.
At HAPA COLLEGE, the performance of student in each subject shall normally be evaluated through continuous assessment (that is, students notes, class assessments, assignments and tests) and terminal examination.
STUDENT EXERCISE BOOK /NOTES
We will continually make effort to maintaining standards in the use of students’ notes. This serves as feedback to parents and students on the academic achievements of students. This tells parents how hard their son/daughter has been working in each of their subjects.
Student’ exercise books/notes are assessed throughout the term for completeness and neatness. A grade will be given for the standard of work at the end of the term.
Parents are strongly advised to constantly check their child’s books/notes.
CLASS ASSESSMENTS
At the end of each teaching unit, students sit a short test to assess their understanding of the material. Whenever possible, questions in this test are drawn from past external examination papers, text books and students notes.
ASSIGNMENTS
Assignment are extended pieces of work allowing students to show their skills under non-exam conditions. We want to plead with the parents/guardians to provide the students with required support in this regard. Please note that payment of school fees is not enough, it is very important that you monitor what is impacted to him/her as well as his/her own performance.
MID TERM TEST
At the 4th and 8th weeks of each term respectively, the first three periods of each week
Are allocated to first and second testing. Students sit one test in each subject, with
duration of 1 hour. Questions in this test are drawn from past external
examination papers and students’ notes
END OF TERM EXAMINATION
By the eleventh week of the each term, the whole school will undertake formal examinations, with students sitting examinations in each subject. Questions in the exam are drawn from past internal and external examinations papers.
GRADE
