Home / Academics
Assessment is an integral part of the teaching process at HAPA COLLEGE. We ensure students are continuously assessed, to give both ongoing feedback and to provide a score/grade at the end of term of a session.
At the end of each week students have a mini assessment on the subject matter covered during the week. Students are then given feedback and teachers re-teach concepts, as required. Students also haves assignment to complete.
There are two major assessments each term; tests and end-of-term examination. All assessments are recorded and provide a framework for continuous assessment. This allows the school to provide parents with balanced evidence of each child’s progress. Parents should note that at HAPA College, students records/results cannot be falsified (fabricated) to have a presentation that will be appealing to you, it is the real competence of your child that will reflect in his/her results. So, parents are encouraged to monitor their child/children trend of performance as the session states.
At HAPA COLLEGE, the performance of student in each subject shall normally be evaluated through continuous assessment (that is, students notes, class assessments, assignments and tests) and terminal examination.
STUDENT EXERCISE BOOK /NOTES
We will continually make effort to maintaining standards in the use of students’ notes. This serves as feedback to parents and students on the academic achievements of students. This tells parents how hard their son/daughter has been working in each of their subjects.
Student’ exercise books/notes are assessed throughout the term for completeness and neatness. A grade will be given for the standard of work at the end of the term.
Parents are strongly advised to constantly check their child’s books/notes.
CLASS ASSESSMENTS
At the end of each teaching unit, students sit a short test to assess their understanding of the material. Whenever possible, questions in this test are drawn from past external examination papers, text books and students notes.
ASSIGNMENTS
Assignment are extended pieces of work allowing students to show their skills under non-exam conditions. We want to plead with the parents/guardians to provide the students with required support in this regard. Please note that payment of school fees is not enough, it is very important that you monitor what is impacted to him/her as well as his/her own performance.
MID TERM TEST
At the 4th and 8th weeks of each term respectively, the first three periods of each week
Are allocated to first and second testing. Students sit one test in each subject, with
duration of 1 hour. Questions in this test are drawn from past external
examination papers and students’ notes
END OF TERM EXAMINATION
By the eleventh week of the each term, the whole school will undertake formal examinations, with students sitting examinations in each subject. Questions in the exam are drawn from past internal and external examinations papers.
